Wild Flyer Running- Find Your Stride

  • Mission

Our mission is to get you to fully understand and feel

how the Chi Running ® techniques will aid in improving your
running form which will ultimately result in less injury
and more efficient running. The approach is to make the
instruction and teaching fun and relaxed while keeping you
focused on the specific techniques that will aid you in
achieving better running form. And ultimately, this better
form will result in longer distances and increased speed.

"...Running, one might say, is basically an absurd past-time
upon which to be exhausting ourselves. But if you can find
meaning, in the kind of running you have to do..., chances are you
will be able to find meaning in another absurd past-time: life"

    Without Limits- Bill Bowerman

  • What Is Chi Running ®?

ChiRunning is the world’s leader in
    teaching safe and efficient running.
It is a natural technique to reduce injury
    and increase personal performance.
    ChiRunning students have changed their
    running form; reducing, preventing and
    recovering from running injuries.

Beginning runners have found that running is easier and more enjoyable.
Competitive runners have found increased speed and decreased recovery time, without being plagued by injury.
Injured runners come back to running empowered with information to prevent recurrence.

Since 2004, two major studies have been published showing
that humans are “born to run” and are designed to do so for
prolonged distances. Dr. Daniel Lieberman of Harvard was
co-author of both studies and is one of the leaders in
researching the biomechanics of running. Chris McDougall’s
best-selling book Born to Run concurs with the Harvard
findings. A West Virginia University Survey of 2500
Chi Runners, shows that 90% were able to change their
    running mechanics.

In 2012, the University of North Carolina conducted a scientific study which shows that the ChiRunning technique produces less impact and higher efficiency when compared to three other common styles of running. Read the results of the study here (PDF)

  • Chi Walking ®

The ChiWalking technique emphasizes the proper biomechanics of walking, which include the following: good posture, loose joints, engaging the core muscles and relaxing the peripheral muscles in the arms and legs.

ChiWalking is a natural technique to reduce aches and pains associated with walking inefficiently. Because walking is something you do every day, improving your walking form has far reaching impacts on the mind and body. ChiWalking has been taught to thousands of people. ChiWalking is a sister program to ChiRunning and can improve your running form with the application of many of the ChiWalking techniques.

    ChiWalking will help you:
    1. Improve your posture
    2. Strengthen crucial core muscles
    3. Relax tight and overused muscles
    4. Gain cardio and aerobic conditioning

There is compelling scientific evidence that walking is incredibly beneficial from a health and fitness standpoint. And because most of us have been given the ability to walk, it is an incredibly inexpensive and accessible activity for anyone who desires to increase his or her activity level. Just 30 minutes a day can have a significant impact on
    your overall health.

*Re-Chi is a meeting with a prior client to review form and progress

In addition, we offer mini sessions which are offered at an hourly rate for those who can only commit for an hour or two. This is a great way to build on the components of the ChiWalking and ChiRunning techniques, as it provides review and reinforcement of prior sessions while adding new components which will aid in achieving a more efficient walking and running form.

Contrary to what you might imagine,
we will not be doing a lot of
    walking/running, so no matter your
    fitness level, you're in.
We will spend the day alternating
    between demonstrations, exercises and
    technique drills...

The nature of the day will be relaxed and fun. I highly recommend visiting www.chirunning.com and/or www.chiwalking.com and purchasing the book(s) and dvd(s) before and/or after the workshop. Changing your walking/running form is a process and a practice in patience. You can always contact us with questions as we continue to Find Your Stride.
